This CD is an extremely rare recording found only here at www.horacesilver.com.
It was released on the now defunct Emerald Records ran and distributed solely by Horace Silver in the late 1980's. These are the last of the original remaining CD's left in the Silver Vault from that period and once they are sold that's it, there are no more. Get your hand-autographed copy today!
Read what Horace himself wrote about this recording:
This recording represents some memorable musical moments from the past that were luckily captured on tape. These tracks were taken from an Alan Grant radio broadcast from ''THE HALF NOTE'' club in New York City. The compositions SONG FOR MY FATHER-THE NATIVES ARE RESTLESS TONIGHT-QUE PASA-featuring Joe Henderson tenor sax, Carmel Jones trumpet, Teddy Smith bass, Roger Humphries drums and myself (Horace Silver) piano was recorded on February 18, 1966. The ''AFRICAN QUEEN'' (Alternate Take) was recorded on February 18, 1966 with the same personnel. These musicians were some of the greatest young musicians I've had the pleasure of working with during that period of time.
Good music has no age or time limit associated with it. The caliber of musicianship and depth of solo performance here is not restricted to a time element. The solo performances here can stand up to and even surpass some of today's solo performances. The composition SONG FOR MY FATHER has been and still is our biggest selling and most requested composition. We are happy to bring to you a different version of this song by the same band that made the original recording. We take great pride in bringing this recording to you and we hope it will bring you many moments of joyous listening pleasure.
